For the fourth season Jazz In Wageningen together with LoburgLive will organize in 2017 again a series of Jazz concerts on Thursday evenings. Our own Jasper Somsen invites the best jazz musicians of the Netherlands on 7 Thursday evenings this year. Concerts will start at 20:30 and entrance is free 

Jasper Somsen

Dutch double bassist & composer Jasper Somsen (1973) studied Jazz and Classical double bass at the conservatories of Utrecht and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During his career Jasper has performed with some of the very best musicians at the (inter)national jazz scene, a.o.: Joey Calderazzo, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bob Sheppard, Justin Faulkner, André Ceccarelli, Gabriele Mirabassi, Bert van den Brink, Ramón Valle, Toon Roos, Karel Boehlee, John Engels, Ferdinand Povel, Yuri Honing, Eric Vloeimans and vocalists: Humphrey Campbell, Fay Claassen, Rita Reys, Nancy Marano and Lori Lieberman
The Jasper Somsen Group released two internationally highly acclaimed albums: "Dreams, Thoughts & Poetry" (The Music of Enrico Pieranunzi - 2010) and “Sardegna” (2013). Jasper can be heard at more than 20 CD and DVD productions

Maarten van der Grinten

Maarten van der Grinten (Geleen, 19th December 1963) is a Dutch jazz guitarist and composer. When Maarten van der Grinten was 9, he started drumming, at the age of 12, he chose guitar. Maarten van der Grinten studied cum laude as a guitar in 1987 at the Hilversum Conservatory at Wim Overgaauw. In 1988, he obtained a scholarship for a further study at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. There he competed more in composition. He is employed at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he was expected to count Anton Goudsmit to his students. He is known among other things for the bands DIG d'DIZ and Dirindi, as duo with Jesse van Ruller, as guitarist at vocalists Laura Fygi, Mathilde Santing, Humphrey Campbell and in the Van der Grinten-Herman Quartet with Benjamin Herman.

Joost Lijbaart

Joost Lijbaart (Amsterdam 1967) started playing drummer at 7th. With the Yuri Honing Trio in 1996, he made the breakthrough album 'Star Tracks' Van (a modern adaptation of European pop classics). In the 20 years history, the trio has released 5 CDs and played in over 90 countries !. There were musical collaborations with musicians from the Middle East, India and China. Besides bands including Yuri Honing, Michiel Borstlap and Benjamin Herman in the 90's, Lijbaart also focused on his own projects, such as his own quartet group Friends, his group Batik and his duo with pianist Wolfert Brederode.
At the North Sea Jazz Festival, he received the soloist prize in the Dutch jazz competition of Elvin Jones in 2003 as drummer. Over the years, Joost regularly played classical percussion music by Iannis Xenakis, John Cage and Steve Reich, and collaborate with Theo Loevendie and Louis Andriessen on various projects.
Joost Lijbaart is a player with many different interests. As an experienced teacher, Joost Lijbaart gives regular guest lectures and lessons at Conservatories around the world
